Portraits are probably my favorite subject matter, especially portraits of people who inspire me. Most of these people are one's I've met, photographed, had sit for me...Some of them I saw in a picture and had to paint them. When I paint someone, it's like I'm hanging out with them. It's like they're sitting in front of me and we are sharing knowingness and beingness. They remind me of parts of myself. The portrait is only don't when both the physical appearance and the spirit of the person is on the canvas. I have spent 4 hours, and I've spent 60 hours to capture these two things. Each painting takes the time it takes and I am as patient and diligent as I need to be.
